Recovery In Malibu

She'd called me - her mom - at my home in New Mexico, while she was driving to beautiful Malibu Beach (California). She's working in the LA area so this Malibu is just some 40 miles away. Sarahjoy talked of driving to meet with a sponsee who is in a recovery center there. Telling first of job stuff and exhaustion, she joked that she 'hopes this sponsee appreciates her efforts.' But in an instant, my maturing recovering addict kid reminds her mom that

'to keep the program we have to give it away.'

Sarahjoy is helping herself stay alive and clean of using by giving away to others recovery principles that she is learning herself. Cool.

As often said, the best way

to learn something is to teach it.
